About Gore Farm Bed and BreakfastGore Farm Bed and Breakfast is set in the heart of Cheshire's beautiful countryside. The Percival family has farmed the Gore since 1888 and they have owned it since the 1960's. The current owner is the sixth generation of the family to work the land. There are records of The Gore being farmed as long ago as 1733 and it was originally part of the Arley Estate. William Lyon, who later designed and built the new front of Arley hall, rebuilt the Gore farmhouse in 1752 for Peter Warburton. Following this, William altered and built the front of Belmont Hall in Great Budworth (now a private school). This charming 17/18th century farm house has a unique heritage and still maintains many of its original features such as stone floors and oak beams. The accommodation is pleasant with one double room (with en-suite facilities) and one twin/family room (sleeps three people), with a shared bathroom. All rooms have a colour television and tea/coffee making facilities. For breakfast, it is possible to choose between a continental or full English breakfast. The Gore has an attractive garden and many different species of birds have been sighted there (Blue and Great Tits, Robins, Woodpeckers, Nut Hatch, Coal Tits, Wagtails, Jays, Magpies, Pigeons, Pheasant, Sparrows and Starlings). Around the farm, it is also possible to see Sparrowhawks and Buzzards. The Gore is ideally situated for travellers, being only 2.5 miles from junction 19 on the M6, down quiet country lanes. This location not only provides easy access to the motorway network, but put also places it close to many local places of interest, including the Cheshire show ground (2 miles), Tatton Park (4 miles), Arley Hall (2 Miles), Knutsford (6 miles), Northwich (7 miles), and within 30 minutes of both Chester and Manchester. Further information about local attractions is available on this website and we always welcome any questions that you may have. Manchester Airport is only 12 miles away and Airport runs are available by prior arrangement. There is always ample parking at The Gore, and prices are reasonable, ranging from £22.50 to £30 per person per night. |
